Fifteen years across SURF installations and deepwater flexible product campaigns including flexibles, umbilicals, risers, and flowlines. Led 104 diver and ROV-installed rigid spools and jumpers on Shah Deniz 2 (50 to 110Te). Subsea structure installation including Xmas trees, manifolds, and SSIVs. Currently on Bouri Gas Utilization Project (Libya), targeting 42% CO2 reduction. Operational depths from 20m to 3,000m, design experience to 4,000m.
Design background spanning diverless subsea connection systems, ROV-mateable power and communication connectors (2kV to 40kV), self-compensating modular umbilical termination units (rated to 350 bar), and automatic release clamp systems for diver-less bend stiffener installation. Film SFX highlights include: full-scale C-47 aircraft with 30-degree hydraulic gimbal (Overlord, 20th Century Fox); hydraulic and pneumatic motion rigs simulating avalanche impact for Murder on the Orient Express (Paramount); and a Soyuz re-entry capsule with pneumatic splashdown cannon alongside modular ISS set pieces for zero-gravity simulation (Life, Sony). Every constraint is a design parameter.
Practical AI and visualisation tools built for engineering workflows. Delivered AI-assisted rigging calculation tools, lift tracking systems, and automated project reporting generating structured weekly summaries from live project data. VR environment development includes on-set pre-visualisation for film cinematographers to plan shots before principal photography, and immersive walkthrough environments for offshore vessels and platforms — piping Navisworks models, photogrammetry captures, and laser scan data through an Unreal Engine pipeline. Backed by process architecture work studying engineering data flow and automation opportunities across major SURF contractors.
